About
About The Mile
Metro Detroit runs on Mile roads. From 8 Mile north, they're how we give directions, draw boundaries and argue about which suburb is best. The Mile covers the real estate along all of them: what homes are worth, what's selling, what's getting built and what it all means for the people who live here.
Who publishes The Mile
The Mile is published by Real Estate Market Center, a family-run real estate brokerage serving Metro Detroit since 2003. We say so on every page because readers deserve to know who's behind what they read. When you request a home value estimate on this site, it goes to Real Estate Market Center.
How we report
- Real data, cited. Every market figure links to its source, such as the Zillow Home Value Index or public records.
- No made-up stories. We don't publish invented quotes, events or numbers.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction.
- Not advice. Our explainers are general information, not financial, legal or tax advice.
Sponsors
Some sections are presented by sponsors, and we label them clearly. Home Front is presented by Prime Restoration. Sponsors don't get to approve or change our market coverage.
Rankings and awards
When The Mile ranks cities, it's by published data. If we ever rank or recognize local businesses, our publisher and sponsors won't be eligible.
